Updates concerning our site.Friday, 29 January 2010 Just to catch everyone up real quick. We now have a nice donation meter up to keep track of our prize pool. Thanks to monk, and supa for being the first ones to step up a donate. As the donation come in the meter will fill up. If you can help out in anyway please visit the want to help link under the donation meter. I will be announcing our first contest in the coming weeks. Might want to make sure your League points are up to snuff. ::wink:: Also, I added a search function to the forums. WHOOPS, forgot to add that. You can now search the forum, and the entire site. The search bar is at the top right of the site. Use it to your advantage. :) Lastly I have implemented a countdown system. It is located on the top of the site. Depending on the next coming up even, be it COTW or S&D, it will show you the time remaining of that event. This way timezone questions are no longer a factor. Hope this helps some of you. That's it for now. We are going strong boys, keep it up. (Comment) |

Shirts, Challenges and ContestsMonday, 25 January 2010 Quite an update on whats been going on. Search and Destroy - 002 has been judged and you can view the winner here! Great entries this time around, super tough to judge! Search and Destroy - 003 will be up before midnight EST tonight. Over the past couple days I have been taking suggestions for challenges by the community. (50 points if one of yours gets accepted, click here to suggest.) And today I posted only user suggested official challenges. You can view the new challenges here and thanks to the 5 user challenges I chose; Monk, HardAtLurk, Midnight, schnavolda and Panda (x2!). I have finally sat down and ironed out the details on how to get some swag to flow through here. Here is the general over view. 1. First I started up a prize pool, you can view this at anytime (click here) to see what the current amount is and what products may be in the pool as well. 2. I have asked anyone interested in donating to go head and begin to do so. Does not matter whether it is money, ms points or products. All donations welcome and happily accepted. I have kicked us off by donating $20.00 to start. You can donate by viewing and replying to this thread or PMing (nowwecanmakewar) / Emailing me (war@skatethis.net). 3. I have decided to release SkateThis shirts in efforts to help 'fill up the prize pool'. You can view the shirts here and $5.00 from every shirt sold goes into the pool. You can also get shirts made for your team in which I will donate a portion of that money to the pool as well. You can view the pricing for team shirts here. 4. All contests will be open to all skatethis users no matter their location. All contest will be open to all skatethis users whether or not they have donated to the price pool. 5. The prize pool will act as simply a collection of goods from users, companies or whatever and may be divided into more than one contest. I would like the first contest to be set up and running soon, but no later than March. Whether the $20.00 current pool goes up any further or not. In the meantime I am going to see if I can swing some stuff from some of the larger skateboarding companies. War (Comment) |

A Week In ReviewTuesday, 12 January 2010 Last Tuesday, with a small demand from the community and a bit of nail biting, I relaunched SkateThis. I, nor did we know how the relaunch would go. Would there be no interest? Would there be a backlash after the 1 year hiatus. Well one week later and we came out guns blazing. A few hundred posts shy of our 1,000th post and a few people shy of our 250th sign up, we look like we are back and better than ever. The community is very active and we are seeing a lot of the og's and a number of new users as well. My intention this time around with SkateThis was the same as it was the first time around which was simple. Build a community and give people things to do while they are not filming for their solo, team or collaboration video. Within a week we have done just that by the following: COTW League Medals So anyway that is SkateThis's week in review. There has been some great videos released, I think the most talked about one is SimpliCITY which you can view on the front page. If you are new to the site, or want to get to know some of the users to the site be sure to stop by the Who Are You? post. (Comment) |

Badges, Points & FixesWednesday, 6 January 2010 Badges oh my! Throughout the past day a number of you asked where are the badges. I completely forgot about them. So I am currently working on bringing them back. While working on them I thought, maybe we should introduce a point system. This is where depending on certain badges you also receive points. |
